Single Bet Ultimate Guide for Safer Sports Wagers

Single Bet guide showing one football selection and one sports wager

Single Bet is the simplest sports-bet structure because it places one stake on a single selection from one event. On Gembet, you choose a market, select one outcome, enter the stake in the Bet Slip and place the wager. The payout for a winning Single Bet is calculated from the accepted stake and odds, while the result depends only on that one selection rather than on several events being linked together.

This makes the format easy to understand, but it still requires careful checks. Review the event, market, selection, stake and current price before confirming.

How a Single Bet Works on Gembet

Gembet’s current bet types guide defines a Single Bet as one outcome in one event. You choose a market such as Match Winner, totals or another available market, then select one outcome from it.

For example, if NORTH CITY is playing COAST UNITED, you might choose NORTH CITY to win at 2.00. That one selection becomes the entire wager. You do not need a second event or another market to complete it.

A Simple Single Bet Payout Example

Suppose you place SGD 10 on NORTH CITY to win at decimal odds of 2.00. If the selection wins, the potential payout is:

SGD 10 × 2.00 = SGD 20 payout

The calculation is stake multiplied by accepted odds. If the selection loses, the stake is lost. If it is returned or void under the applicable event and market rules, it can receive a different settlement instead of a normal win or loss.

A larger price does not mean the outcome is more likely. It only changes the potential payout attached to the accepted stake.

Why Single Bet Is Different From a Combo

A combo links two or more selections, normally across different events, and all included selections must win for the combo to pay out. A Single Bet contains only one selection, so the result of another match cannot directly make that wager lose.

Imagine you like NORTH CITY to win and RIVER ATHLETIC to win in separate matches. Two individual wagers settle independently. If NORTH CITY wins and RIVER ATHLETIC loses, one can win while the other loses. If you combine them into one combo, the losing selection can make the entire combo lose.

That does not make a Single Bet guaranteed or automatically safer. It simply means settlement depends on one selected outcome rather than a chain of linked selections.

Single Bet Versus a System Bet

A system wager creates multiple combinations from a larger group of selections. Gembet currently requires at least three events to create a system bet. A Single Bet does not need that structure because it contains one event and one selected outcome.

System bets can still produce a return when some selections lose, depending on the system chosen, but their stake allocation and settlement are more complex. If your intention is simply to back one market in one event, this format expresses that prediction directly.

One Selection Can Still Be a Detailed Prediction

The word “single” describes the bet structure, not how simple the underlying sports prediction must be. A wager could be a straightforward home-win selection, but it could also use a more specific market when available.

For example, you could use a Half Time Full Time selection as one Single Bet. It would still contain one selected outcome even though that market asks for both the half-time and full-time result. Our Half Time Full Time Betting guide explains how those two-stage selections work.

The same principle applies to exact scores, outright winners and other available markets. The market defines what must happen. The bet structure defines how many selections are included.

How to Place a Single Bet

Gembet’s current sports bet placement guide says to open Sports, select the event and market, and add the single selection to the Bet Slip. Enter the stake amount and review the potential payout shown from the market odds.

You can also use the MAX control to see the maximum allowed stake for that wager. When everything is correct, select Place a Bet. Gembet states that a successfully placed sports wager cannot be edited or cancelled afterwards.

That makes the pre-placement review important even for a simple Single Bet.

Check the Bet Slip Before You Confirm

Before placing a Single Bet, verify five details: the event, market, selected outcome, stake and current odds. Similar team names or neighbouring markets can make the wrong selection look correct at a glance.

If you close the Bet Slip while browsing other events, Gembet says you can reopen it using the Bet Slip button. When you return, read the selection again before confirming.

Prices Can Move Before Acceptance

Sports markets can change between the moment you choose a selection and the moment you confirm it. If a Single Bet is added at 2.10 but the market moves to 2.00 before placement, the potential payout can change.

Review the displayed price before pressing Place a Bet. A previous price seen on the event page should not be treated as fixed until the wager has been accepted.

Once accepted, the recorded wager and its bet ID are the useful references for what was placed.

Accepted Bets Cannot Be Edited or Cancelled

Gembet’s current sports-bet instructions state that after a sports wager is placed, it cannot be edited or cancelled. Each accepted bet receives a unique bet ID that can be used for tracking or when contacting support.

If you notice that the wrong team or market was selected after placement, do not assume you can simply rewrite the Single Bet. The accepted wager remains subject to its recorded terms.

This is another reason to check the Bet Slip carefully before confirming rather than relying on memory after submission.

What Happens When a Single Bet Is Void

A Single Bet does not always settle as a win or loss. If the event or market meets the applicable conditions for a Return or Void settlement, the qualifying stake can be returned instead.

An event cancellation or another market-specific circumstance may prevent normal settlement. The exact treatment depends on the relevant sport and market rules, so do not assume every interrupted event produces the same result.

A void settlement also does not count as a winning prediction. It returns the qualifying stake rather than producing the normal winning payout.

Single Bet During Live Sports

You can also encounter Single Bet opportunities while an event is live. The structure remains the same: one selected outcome from one event. What changes is the context because the score, clock and market prices can move as the sporting action develops.

If you place a live wager, read the current score and market wording before confirming. A market offered in the 65th minute is based on a different match situation from the same market before kick-off.

Live statistics can provide context, but they do not guarantee the next goal, point or result.

One Selection Can Cover Several Final Scores

A Single Bet contains one selected market outcome, but that outcome can sometimes cover several possible final scores. A Match Winner selection on NORTH CITY can win with 1-0, 2-0, 2-1 or another qualifying home victory. The wager is still one selection.

By contrast, an exact-score market can make one wager depend on only one precise scoreline. Understanding the underlying market is therefore just as important as knowing the bet type.

Several Singles Still Increase Total Exposure

You can place several individual wagers without converting them into one combo. If you place SGD 10 on four different matches as four singles, total stake is:

4 × SGD 10 = SGD 40 total stake

Each wager settles independently, but separating them does not guarantee an overall profit. Track the combined amount staked across the session rather than viewing each selection in isolation.

When Single Bet Fits the Prediction

Single Bet is most useful when you want one sporting opinion to stand on its own. If you believe one team will win, one total will be exceeded or one specific market outcome will occur, a single wager expresses that view without requiring another event to be correct.

If you deliberately want several outcomes linked together, a combo or another supported structure may fit that intention better. The appropriate format depends on what you actually want the wager to require.

Review a Single Bet Before Placement

Single Bet is the most direct sports-bet structure on Gembet: one event, one market outcome and one stake. Its simplicity does not remove uncertainty, so the same careful review still matters.

Check the market condition, current odds, stake and potential payout before confirming. Make sure the selection reflects the prediction you intended to make and remember that accepted wagers cannot be edited or cancelled afterwards.

A Single Bet keeps one outcome separate from other events, but that does not guarantee a winning result. Use the format because it matches the way you want to structure the wager, not because a single selection is certain to succeed.
